Join us for our now-annual tradition: The 2nd Seder at Russ & Daughters Cafe! Every year we invite a friend of the Russ & Daughters family to lend their unique voice and talents to lead our seder. We are thrilled to have the brilliant writer and talk show host Catie Lazarus, who follows our friends Laurie Anderson and Rabbi Andy Bachman from previous years.
Passover is a time when we gather together with family, friends, and community to tell the story and sing the songs of the holiday. It’s a time to reflect on how historical issues of social justice and freedom relate to our lives today. The conduit for these stories and conversations is food and ritual.
Russ & Daughters has been a part of people’s Passover seders for generations: we’ve always prepared Passover specialties for pick-up, delivery, and shipping to our customers in their homes. And while we’ll be doing that this year at the shop, we’re also looking forward to welcoming people into our own space to celebrate.
The seder menu will feature brisket and other traditional Passover favorites. (We’ll serve a set menu, and modifications to the menu cannot be accommodated for this event.)
A portion of the proceeds from every ticket will be donated to the Lower East Side Girls Club. The Lower East Side Girls Club connects girls and young women to healthy and successful futures. Their state-of-the-art center on East 8th Street at Avenue D offers a safe haven with programs in the arts, sciences, leadership, entrepreneurship, and wellness for middle and high school girls. Programs are offered at no cost to girls and their families.Their mission is to break the cycle of local poverty by training the next generation of ethical, entrepreneurial and environmental leaders.
